Everyday Body Cleansing Paste

I'm currently writing a book with recipes for body care scrubs and pastes you can make with ingredients from your kitchen and garden. This little bit of smart kitchen witchery for beauty and health will be available through the website soon as a spiral bound book, but for now, here's a sample recipe...

My organically home-grown garden Mint with the Oatmeal, Coconut Oil everyday paste.

Everyday Body-Care

Do you need a Scrub everyday? No. I would recommend it as something to do about once a week. The mix below is for an ‘everyday body cleansing rub’ that you can make up and use in the shower or in the bath. It is smooth for quick and easy application each day. Because it contains Oats and Coconut Oil, you won’t have to moisturise your skin after the shower, and, best of all it can be used as a shaving cream too.

Everyday Body Cleansing Rub
Add ¾ cup of Oat Flour (ground oatmeal to a fine powder), ¼ cup Coconut Oil, 1 teaspoon of ground Rock Salt, 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil and 5 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil to a bowl, and mix until you have a combined all of the ingredients into a mixture that resembles bread crumbs. (if its cold weather, your coconut oil may solidify, so you might need to do this mixing in a bowl over a smaller bowl of hot water...as if you were melting chocolate.

This recipe makes approximately enough for a week. Store in a glass jar.

To use in a shower: 1 teaspoonful in a cupped hand, add enough water to make a  paste, gently rub it into damp skin before washing off.
To use in a bath: 1 or two tablespoons into a luke warm bath, swoosh around luxuriantly...then rinse off with a quick blast of water under the shower.

(It’s best to have a teaspoon with it so that fingers aren’t being put into the mixture)

I used the 125ml plastic pump pack and pre-mixed the dry ingredients for use, and, I also used a handful of my own mint through this for an extra fresh feeling!

Of course you can choose to substitute the essential oils for others like Lavender, Eucalyptus,Orange,  Peppermint or Cedarwood etc... There's a page in the book that explains all about substituting and omitting ingredients so that you can begin to make your own recipes up to suit what you have in reach.  This is a truly luxurious everyday treat to make for yourself, and seeing as it has absolutely no synthetic ingredients you are helping your body truly 'cleanse'.

My book is called 'Scrub Yourself Silly'.  A 25page 'do-it-yourself' guide for fabulous healthy skin. Chapters include: 'Scrubs for Soothing', 'Scrubs for Cleansing', 'Scrubs for Healing', and a glossary of chosen ingredients too.

Due for release soon at a cost of $10 plus delivery.
(and I'll be stocking empty jars, and pump packs so you can store your concoctions too)

  1. The term holistic therapy also often used as a catch-phrase for complementary or alternative medicine. Whatever you care to call it, there is a growing trend toward supplementing traditional medicine with other methods of healing.

  2. Hello Issaquah, thankyou for your comment.
Yes, definitely a trend happening, I just do so hope that it is because people are finally up to the truth that good health starts by taking that responsibility on yourself. It starts with YOU.

? but also ? 'traditional medicine' IS what I support...not general symptomatic pharmaceutical medicine :) this form of 'pop a pill for an ailment' system has only been with us a short time.

To me, Holistic Therapy is a weaving together of complimentary and alternative treatments from traditional healing knowledge, which views the person as Mind, Body & Spirit in an environment, reacting to stimuli, history and change.

Many Blessings and thanks again for the comment. All thoughts appreciated.
