Hello! I'm back!

"Hello and welcome to a brand new moment!"

I've been out of touch with this site for a few months, putting together a few things. One of them was a new venture on Facebook called MiOrganic Solutions. The page is proving popular, and so, I've renamed this whole blog the same. It keeps the information stream 'in line', especially with the Holistic Therapy Connections MiniZine offering a variety of information now.

Just a few little notes...

ONE - you can now buy Specials on the Miessence site...the link will take you to the ONEGroup site of mine where you can get certified organic products safe for your body and your home and ultimately, our planet.

TWO - you can see all of what I've been up to by visiting the Twitter links for the posts from MiOrganic Solutions on Facebook.

THREE - I'm due to be GIVING AWAY a document soon that will show you how you can cut the cost of household cleaning for good, with just 5 Ingredients...Cool hey? It will be completely free, all you have to do is pop on over to the Holistic Feng Shui MiniZine site and sign up for free to receive the HTCM each month.

Many Blessings

Cacao Power, the Mayan Superfood! August Giveaway Competition!

REAL Cacao, the Mayan Superfood for good health.

PowerSuperFoods has been generous enough to supply me with a few samples of their products. And now, I’m passing on the opportunity to you to try some of their 100% certified organic, vegan, fair-trade, raw and gluten free cacao powder.

There are three sample packs of Cacao Power powder to be won.

The website has some suggestions for recipes and usages. I’ve been using this product instead of sickly chocolate ‘drink’ powders, and find that my children prefer this too! They love it in their smoothies, as a ‘hot chocolate’ or as a cold milk chocolate drink using soymilk. High in magnesium and natural antioxidants, a hot drink of this is what you replace your morning coffee and tea with!

Simply email me with the subject heading ‘Raw Cacao’ and you’re in the running for one of those samples! Good Luck!

A natural laundry detergent?

Yup its true. Soapnuts are a completely natural alternative to any commercial detergent available, and give great results too. They aren’t actually a nut at all, but the shell of a nut that is related to the Lychee, and is grown in parts of Indonesia.

About one handful of shells placed in a small calico or cotton bag, is used per 3 to 5 washes. And its as simple as throwing the bag (I use an old stocking sock tied up) of shells into your washing machine and retrieving it for the next wash. The thing is, you won’t see any suds, because this detergent is super gentle and does not foam heavily at all. You won’t smell any detergent either, because there are no industrial fragrances in this product at all. You will get clean smelling clothes that are soft and fresh without using any fabric softener. Soapnuts clean and soften in one. Too good to be true eh?!

I’ve been using Soapnuts for about a year now and find they are wonderful at delivering a clean and fragrance free wash each time I use them. When I want fragrance I use a few drops of essential oil to give my wash a gentle and natural aroma. Lavender for linen, Lemon for whites, Tea Tree for towels and blankets,..but you can choose your own favourites of course.

Ordering Soapnuts still seems to be a little daunting for people, but they are easily available from the following online stores…
http://www.bionatural.com.au/

All providing delivery to your door. There are so many stockists worldwide now that you should be able to ask your local healthfood store to order you a bag easily. Or ask me, and I’ll order some for you!

I am giving away a small sample bag of Soapnuts to one lucky reader. Register your entry by emailing me with your details and the subject heading ‘nuts about clean washing’.

There is a wonderful page full of information here at:
http://www.gwarehouse.com.au/ in the FAQ’s page on Soapnuts

Use 10 - 15 drops of any dilution in a wash load, to enjoy the healing and uplifting properties of the essential oils. (other applications are at the webpage here )

Chia seeds - more nutritional gold from the South American ancients

I’ve written about Amaranth, and Quinoa (keen-wah), and now here is Chia! Researching new nutritional gold led me to the Chiatah Co in Australia. Growing Chia in Australia and offering a high quality natural, unprocessed ‘superfood’, well, I couldn’t NOT get in touch with them.
So what is Chia and where does it come from? Read on….(courtesy of the Chiatah website www.thechiaco.com.au)

“Chiatah is high quality, naturally grown Australian Chia seed. Chiatah seeds are small, oval shaped black or white seeds and are one of nature's richest sources of plant based Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids. What makes essential fatty acids so important? Your body can't produce them but needs them to maintain optimum health. Not only are they jam packed with essential fatty acids but Chiatah seeds are also rich in a stack of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. They have virtually no sodium or sugar and absolutely no gluten. We describe Chiatah as a wholefood at it's packed with a full spectrum of goodness to benefit your body and mind.

Chia seeds were first used as food as early as 3500 BC and were one of the main dietary components of the Aztecs and the Mayans. Chia seeds were eaten as a grain, drunk as a beverage when mixed with water, ground into flour, included in medicines, pressed for oil and used as a base for face and body paints. The Spanish conquests of America destroyed much of the intensive agricultural production systems that were in place however small pockets of producing regions remained in Central and South America.

A consistent highly quality supply had to be available before Chia could be accepted in the Australian food industry. Growing trials proved exceptionally successful and The Chia Company began large scale production in Australia.”

And as you’ve probably guessed, yep, I put them into muffins so that the children get that all important whack of essential fatty acid input in their diet. They’re both not big on oily fish so it’s one way I can make sure their nutritional needs are being met with ease.

The website for Chiatah has a link for recipes so you can diversify and use chia in many different applications.

I am giving away two sample-paks of chia seeds, one white one black, for someone to try. Write to me at jthtc@yahoo.com.au, with the subject heading ‘Chia Gold’ to enter the draw.
All entries will be taken during February and the winner will be contacted during March, and announced in April’s MiniZine. Best of Luck!
