Healing on all levels with Helichrysum

Helichrysum growing in Corsica. As someone who loves to explore the Energy Signature of plants, this one looks decidedly like 'beauty in the middle of harshness' given the terrain it is seen growing and thriving in... A plant that knows how to get the best out of a not-so-optimal situation ;)

Healing scars and wounds is a passion of mine. I have been interested in healing the physical as well as spiritual and emotional scars, as I know taking care of all three enables true healing, and that's what I want; real healing, not a surface scar that I'll need to give more attention to later on. Helichrysum is also kown as 'Immortelle' and 'Everlasting', and commonly used as both a spiritual propellant and for the treatment of scarring and wounds.

My first forays into Aromatherapy started with the obvious and traditional uses of Lavender, Chamomile, Patchouli and the various blossoms and florals. They were a sensory wonder, and then came the more enlightened acknowledgement of the message they bring to the emotional and spiritual aspects of humans. This pricked my interest considerably! When I used Lavender I would see particular colours around me, or the person I was using it with. They were different colours to the ones for Chamomile, or Patchouli and so on. I also became tuned into a type of energetic music that each aromatherapy oil would suggest. This type of phenomena truly inspired my love of aromatherapy (and then I got a little crazy and overloaded myself with too many different oils) and furthered my journey of discovery with them.

Recently I had been up against a blockage emotionally. Feeling 'displacement' in my life, manifesting in confusions, doubts, apathy, lethargy and the other common ailments of a life not being driven particularly well. I'd taken my hands off the wheel and I knew that it didn't feel right. That's when Helichrysum decided to start saying 'hello'. I bought a bottle and marvelled at how amazingly healing the scent was. To me it instantly said 'bandages', and I was given a pale and soft cream colour to meditate upon. I felt my psyche being wrapped in soft, petal-like swathes of colour and aroma. A soft pentatonic melody swept through my Mind. *ding ding, dong, ding ding* :) I laughed at the message with joy. I thanked Helichrysum for the healing.

I think Helichrysum is working with me very slowly. It's aroma signature, or Energy Signature, is changing subtley with the time I am giving the treatment. At first it smelled decidedly 'medicinal', hence the immediate image and sensory overload of 'bandages'. It immediately knew I needed some protection and enclosure. Now, I am 'scentsing' a whole new floral layer to its aroma, and along with it is coming a greater perspective on the connections I have now. More appreciation for the passions I have. More acknowledgement about what makes me feel strong, what I love, and what I want to do.

I am aligning with something bigger than me and while I find it intimidating, I am also in awe of its beauty. My life is unfolding and old fears are being released. A new phase of healing comes in just as needed. In Perfect Timing as always ;)

Tuning into Love - 019 'Shine like a Diamond'

It only takes one bout of 'the lurgy' to make me appreciate my general good to great health all the more. This last week I've nursed my three babies through a nasty set of high temperatures, snuffles, coughs, chills and the rest, till finally on the weekend I went down with the same thing. Perfect Timing of course, as my partner was home and could take care of them and me. (he was so pleased to go back to work on Monday, I can tell you)

We are all on the mend now, thanks to a weaving of therapies like Homeopathy (thanks to my beautiful friend Butterfly), Crystal Therapy (Oh how I LOVE and appreciate Black Tourmaline and Clear Quartz), Aromatherapy (Yay for Eucalyptus, Cedarwood and Lavender mixes!), Hydration Therapy, Massage (Sinus massage and Lymph massage help incredibly well), Yogic Breathing exercises, heaps of nutritious superfood smoothies, the blessing of having Holy Basil growing plentifully and mixing it with pure, natural honey, and finally, the 'lifesaver', Sea Salt.

When a body is depleted of nutrients because its run down, exhausted or over stressed, it is open to infections, and this can lead to ill-health. Restoring this nutrient balance is essential for a quick and full recovery. I had been able to just click into gear with all of the therapies I've mentioned but strangely, I'd not given myself the Sea Salt. Come to the 2nd day of being 'ill', and I'd just had enough. (I do not know HOW I got through adolescence let alone childhood with the relentless barrage of sickness I experienced almost on a monthly basis)

Another dose of Rescue Remedy and more water, and while it calmed me I wanted to be 'well'. I was lying there and suddenly I noticed that the thing MOST annoying me was my 'lack of connection', my mojo was running low! I felt 'unaware'. My consciousness seemed drastically impaired and as I drifted off into a daydream I had a vision of blue crystalline structures, washing into my Mind. 'Sploooshy' waves of 'ahhhhh'. Then, 'ping!', I remembered the salt.

Over the next few hours each time I had my Holy Basil leaves and honey I also gave myself a pinch of ground up Celtic Sea Salt. Its got the highest content of minerals of all the sea salts. Within two hours I'd got a huge turnaround. This was about 3 or 4 doses of salt, taken with the other things and lots of water too...got to have water to help the body assimilate it all. I sat down to meditate/rest/re-align and had a beautiful vision of my body radiating Light from a myriad of pinpoints. As if all the Meridian junctions were lighting up!

Cinnamon - Healing with Comfort & Warmth

Cinnamon has been used for hundreds of years to assist with conditions that are brought by cold weather. Its natural effects of warming and calming assist with making us feel comforted, soothed and generally 'looked after'. The antiviral properties of Cinnamon are extremely useful during the 'change of season' from warm to cool and cool to warm, (that is, Autumn and Spring) but beneficial anytime for its other uses such as a digestive stimulant, or by topical application for insect stings.


It has to be amongst one of the easiest healing spices to obtain by either sourcing the bark shavings as 'quills', or the ground Cinnamon we are all probably familiar with from baking. Adding ground Cinnamon to your coffee or tea will make you feel good if you have been out in cold weather or if you've had a traumatic situation. Often the shock of extreme weather conditions or unfavourable behaviour, and sometimes even 'bad news' can affect our immune system, and this shock if not treated with a restorative therapy can bring on illness. Cinnamon is antiviral and antibacterial, as well as calming yet stimulating...so it can address shock, fright or trauma and assist with re-balancing the physical and emotional bodies. It is excellent for use with children who are feeling nauseated and / or nervous. A small shake of ground Cinnamon into a warm oatmilk (or cows milk) will help them feel better quickly.


Cinnamon Essential Oil is volatile, and will burn skin if applied directly without dilution. Using a blend of Cinnamon with Ginger in a small amount of carrier oil (Avocado, Sweet Almond, Cottonseed, Wheatgerm) will enable it to be used as a gentle massage oil for cold feet & hands, or on the back to stimulate blood flow to these areas. When used like this it can help to move congestion in the lungs, or help soothe arthritic symptoms. A simple blend to use is 15ml carrier oil with 3 drops *Cinnamon Essential Oil, and 2 drops Ginger Essential Oil. (caution: do not rub vigorously! *only gentle sweeping motions with the hands and only massage for about 30 seconds, then cover the area with a light cloth or light clothing to keep warm)
To treat someone for overt shock, or trauma from cold, run a deep lukewarm bath and add 5 drops of Cinnamon Oil and 10 drops of Rescue Remedy. Allow them to soak for around 5minutes and then assist them into light clothing and a comfortable bed.  Administer Rescue Remedy again under the tongue or in a cup of water.

“Seasons Greetings! Wanna buy some chemicals?” What’s really in those pretty bottles you’ll be giving your loved ones this festive season?...

We’ve all noticed the decorations and the displays in the department stores, gearing up for the silly season of gift giving mania, ‘excess to impress’ and a general fever pitch of consumerism.
